  • TSSA: San Antonio Bound

    August 03, 2012
When I think about San Antonio, I think color, great food, shopping at the Mercado, music, and sipping margaritas at any of the restaurants along the river walk. Now I’m going to have to add the TSSA Annual Convention and Trade Show to the list! TSSA is San Antonio bound for this year’s convention. You’ll hear more about the plans in the next few months but since convention is uppermost in my mind right now, I’ve got to let you in on a few of the plans underway.

  • Enjoying the Balance Between Face-Time and Virtual-Time

    June 29, 2012
Sometimes we may compare and debate the value of two distinct forms of customer interaction: face-time and virtual-time. The true value of each may really live somewhere in between; we need both forms in balance to reach and keep customers. These truths were no better illustrated than at the recent TSSA Executive Retreat.

  • Everyone is Your Customer

    June 08, 2012
When you think about it, everyone is your customer. That’s right, your boss, co-workers, family, friends...in a sense, they are all customers. • Recognition, Perspective, and Life-long Learning

    May 25, 2012

I had that experience recently while attending the 2012 commencement at Rice University to watch my son graduate. The speaker was Salman Kahn, a young entrepreneur who created the Kahn Academy, a free online education platform with more than 2,500 video tutorials explaining a wide variety of math and science concepts.

My refrigerator is on the fritz. So, I find myself in the situation of researching what my best options are for purchasing a new one. Much like a prospective self-storage customer, I am looking at what’s available out there, what the prices are, and last but not least...who I want to buy from.

  • Reaching Your Target Audience

    March 23, 2012
A recent trip to New York City- Manhattan to be specific- reminded me how different some parts of our great country are from others. As you may know, Manhattan is a densely-packed thriving hub of a universe in itself. The pace is fast, and the action vibe is non-stop. As you might expect, New Yorkers themselves are different from Texans, and therefore, the most prominent self-storage business there, called Manhattan Mini Storage, use a different approach to marketing to their target audience.
